1)  Eligibility criteria for using this portal:.
i) Consider to apply here only if one of the co-investigator in your study is from University of Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) or Faculty of Medicine (FOM), University of Malaya. Investigators who are NOT from UMMC/FOM must appoint one co-investigator from UMMC/FOM to apply for the UMMC Research Ethics Approval. The applying investigator as well as all investigators are accountable for the research conducted in UMMC.
ii) Only UMMC/FOM investigator who does NOT have Single Sign On (SSO) Username and Password are allowed to apply through this portal. Please apply through http://my.ummc.edu.my if you or your co-investigator have a SSO account.
iii) Students from FOM can apply for the UMMC Research Ethics Approval but he/she must include his/her supervisor's name (who are from UMMC/FOM) when applying. Students who are not from FOM should appoint one lecturer from UMMC/FOM to apply for the Ethics Approval.
iv) Research Assistant (RA), Study Coordinator (SC), Clinical Research Officer (CRO) or any personnel from the pharmaceutical company are not allowed to use this portal to apply for the UMMC Research Ethics approval.
2)  Please complete your application at least one (1) week before the submission deadline you may find below. TO ALLOW APPROVAL FROM HOD
3)  Please complete every stage of application before you save and proceed.
4)  DO NOT LEAVE the text field in blank. Please put NONE for any field which are not applicable to your study project.
5)  Please prepared the following documents (if applicable) to be uploaded along the stage of application:
i) Resume and GCP certificate
ii) Study protocol *
iii) Patient Information Sheet in English and translated languages *
iv) Consent form in English and translated languages *
v) Insurance certificates
vi) Investigator's Brochure
vii) Any other documents which support the study project.
6) For any Interventional Clinical Research which involves drugs, please register into the National Medical Research Register (NMRR) https://www.nmrr.gov.my.
7) The Applying Investigator will be contacted through phone call or email if the study needs to be presented in the monthly MEC meeting.

* Please note that study applications submitted before the submission deadlines may not
necessarily be slotted in for the subsequent month’s meeting as to allow earlier studies
submitted to be discussed first.
* Based on our SOP, the review time of a new study from receipt of an application by the
secretariat to the MREC Chair’s first decision is 60 working days. Please plan your study
submissions based on the turnaround time for study applications.
