How does Coronavac Covid 19 vaccine work? |

What does CoronaVac vaccine contain? |

Who should not receive CoronaVac vaccination? |
Coronavac is contraindicated in individuals with the following condition: 1) Hypersensitivity to any component of the vaccine or similar vaccines 2) Previous severe allergic reactions to the vaccine (e.g.: acute anaphylaxis, angioedema, dyspnea) 3) Severe neurologic conditions (e.g.: transverse myelitis, Guillaine-Barre syndrome, demyelinating disease) 4) Uncontrolled severe chronic diseases 5) Pregnant and lactating women |

What are the possible side effects of CoronaVac? |
The side effects can include both localised and systemic. For the localised adverse reactions, one might experience pain, swelling, pruritus, erythema, induration and burning sensation over the injection site. Whereas for the systemic adverse reactions, one might experience headache, fatigue, myalgia, nausea, arthralgia, cough, chills etc. |

What should I do if I experience severe side effects after receiving CoronaVac? |

How many doses of the CoronaVac vaccine will be needed? |
The vaccine will be given in 2 doses, 21 days apart. |

No, it is not advisable as the protection will not be complete without the second dose. |

Up till now, there are no clinical studies conducted to study the concomitant use of CoronaVac with other vaccines. However, the use of immunosuppressive drugs such as immunity inhibitors, chemotherapy drugs, antimetabolites and corticosteroids may lower the immune response of Coronavac. Hence, for those who are using any form of immunosuppressive drugs, please discuss with your doctor before receiving Coronavac. |
